Last year during BI 2014 Mico Yuk, the founder of the renowned BI Dashboard Formula and Avery Horzewski of SAP Social Media discussed the importance of having an organization that focuses on a visual thinking culture. Not only can companies benefit from the advantages of new dashboards, they can also acquire advanced analytic solutions into their methodologies.
Mico’s number one advice in getting started with visual culture is to start simple. Since organizations have been technical with their own methodologies for years, it is important to start with something simple and get used to it, and then introduce more concepts about visual culture for organizations to be able to finally embrace it.
She also talked about the Data Visualization Road Map. This is where she explains how to go from the current state to the future state.
Mico outlined 5 important areas to focus on:
- Change management
In time, Mico believes that a visual culture will be a big topic in the world of Business Intelligence. For now, a visual culture is perceived as an exciting, but still new concept.
Catch Mico at BI2015 in Las Vegas on March 9-12 as she presents on building a data visualization roadmap, Dashboard requirements gathering and prototyping, and visual storyboarding.
